About the Role

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to train frontier models on high-quality insurance reasoning data. We're hiring Insurance Regulatory Compliance Specialists to design realistic compliance and regulatory-operations scenarios, evaluate model outputs against established industry standards, and help shape how the next generation of AI reasons about insurer obligations, market conduct, filings, controls, and regulatory reporting.

We welcome compliance professionals from carriers, health plans, MGAs, TPAs, brokerages, consulting firms, and regulatory agencies. This role focuses on practical insurance compliance and regulatory operations.

What You'll Do

  • Design realistic scenarios involving state insurance requirements, market conduct, rate and form filings, licensing, consumer notices, complaint handling, privacy, reporting, audits, and corrective action
  • Create work products such as compliance assessments, control recommendations, filing checklists, regulatory-response plans, monitoring procedures, and remediation summaries
  • Write "golden" reference responses at experienced insurance-compliance quality
  • Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics for regulatory accuracy, operational feasibility, jurisdictional awareness, and appropriate escalation
  • Identify overbroad legal conclusions, missing jurisdictional caveats, inadequate controls, incorrect reporting obligations, and matters requiring review by counsel
  • Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior
  • Participate in onboarding office hours and calibration sessions

You're a Good Fit If You

  • Have 2+ years of professional experience in insurance compliance, regulatory affairs, market conduct, filings, licensing, audit, or risk and controls
  • Understand how insurance requirements vary by line of business, product, stakeholder, and jurisdiction
  • Have interpreted regulatory guidance and translated it into policies, procedures, controls, or operational requirements
  • Can distinguish compliance analysis from legal advice and recognize when counsel should be consulted
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication, research discipline, and high attention to detail
  • Are comfortable documenting the basis, scope, assumptions, and limitations of a compliance conclusion

Bonus Qualifications

  • CPCU, CCEP, CHC, LOMA, AHIP, or comparable designation
  • Prior insurance-department, market-conduct examination, or regulatory-audit experience
  • Rate/form filing, surplus-lines, producer licensing, or health-plan compliance experience
  • Experience across multiple states or federal and state programs
  • Experience designing compliance monitoring or corrective-action programs

Role Highlights

  • Minimum 20 hours per week (ideally 40+)
  • Role starts immediately, applications reviewed on a rolling basis
